When you think about the word easy, what comes to mind? I’m a fat kid at heart, so the first thought I had was Easy Mac, but that can be our little secret. It’s one of the hardest words to make a list of things that coincide. Although I find cooking to be a breeze, it took years of wifey training, hovering over my Mother and lots of trial-and-error to perfect. It was not always easy and took determination to master, but it was worth every second of it. I can’t imagine serving my future hubby a Lean Cuisine after he spends Monday-Friday trying to support my shoe addiction and the roof over my head. Easy things are not always the best. For example, when a woman portrays herself as easy, she is good enough to suffice Mr. Right Now’s evening, but the following day she will be nothing more than a measly tramp who is as good as a doormat that he can walk all over. A woman who is a catch won’t just settle for a sleazeball asking to take her home – he will have to work hard
at impressing her while showing what he is made of.
The same scenario applies to everyday life; the harder you work, the more satisfying the reward will be. Although I grew up very blessed, my parents never handed anything to me. Sure, I had help along the way, but this was their way of keeping me on track and guiding me in the right direction. People often think they deserve things without any effort to achieve. We all want the promotion, new pair of Jimmy Choo’s, Louis Vuitton Carryon, a spouse who can’t get enough of us, a house to call home and a JLo body. If you were able to get all of those things with the snap of a finger, then there would be no room for excitement in your life. I believe that if I had everything I wanted, I would remain empty in a room that was extremely full. All the obstacles we have to overcome in life are what make us stronger. We have all be told once in our lives that “life isn’t easy, but I promise you it’s worth it.”
You only have one life to live. No one promised you that your whole life was going to be Easy Breezy Beautiful. If you blow out your birthday candles and wish for things like being wealthy, living in a mansion or being famous – you’re missing the value of your life. Some people who have everything are lacking the most. Hard work is extremely admirable to me. A man who is constantly working his baby-got-back off has a good shot at sitting at a candlelit dinner with yours truly rather than a man who is rummaging through his trust fund. If you can’t stand your boss, suck it up with a straw – you don’t know how hard their job is. If someone breaks your achy breaky heart, let them go – they were not meant for you in the first place. If your car breaks down on the side of the road, who cares? You have legs or Uber. Although these scenarios may seem hard during the period of time you’re going through them, they will look totally silly in the grand scheme of things.
You will be put to the test several times in your life. Some of the tests you can’t prepare for, but you will be graded (not literally) on how you react. Hard times are blessings in disguise, and no matter how tough it may seem, you have to keep your head, standards and heels high (had to). The hardest lessons you learn are the ones that are necessary. Take all the mistakes and crazy experiences you have had and learn from each of them. Everyone has their own story and the struggle is part of it. Giving up when times are tough is too easy. Right now is the youngest you will ever be and the oldest you have been, so it is time to stay strong and start living.
